Distribution:-

    Sri Lanka

Habitat:-

  1. Found in tropical forest and open, tall scrub with grassy openings
  2. Grows in swampy or periodically flooded areas, usually in full sun or partial shade

Morphological character:-

  1. Perennial, erect, and rhizomatous grass, 1 to 3m tall
  2. Panicles open without whorled basal panicle branches
  3. Spikelets inserted near the base of lowest panicle branches
  4. Spikelets around 6.8mm long and 2.2mm wide with extenuated apiculus, often awnless
  5. Anthers 2.3 to 4mm long
