Distribution:-

    Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Tanzania, and Zambia

Habitat:-

  1. Found on flat ironstone rocks, granite/lateritic outcrops, in ponds, near streams, seasonally inundated areas in water up to 0.5m deep, but more often in shallow water
  2. Grows in open habitats

Morphological character:-

  1. Annual or weakly perennial, tufted grass, with slender culms
  2. Panicles compact
  3. Spikelets small and slender, 7.7 to 10mm long and 1.4 to 1.8mm wide, with long awns 6 to 17cm long
  4. Anthers 2 to 3.4mm long
