Distribution:- Indonesia (Irian Jaya) and Papua New Guinea

Habitat:-

  1. Found in forest areas
  2. Grows on low-lying seasonally wet areas such as swamps, water holes of streambeds
  3. Usually grow as scattered plants in full to partial shades, in organic loamy soils

Morphological character:-

  1. Perennial, erect to semi-erect, and tufted grass about 1 to 2m tall
  2. Panicles intermediately open
  3. Spikelets 7 to 8.2mm long and 1.8 to 2.4mm wide with trichomes in rows down the length of papery lemma and palea
  4. Sterile lemmas narrow and flexuous, slightly shorter or longer than fertile lemma
  5. Awns about 1cm long
  6. Anthers 1.6 to 2.5mm long
