Distribution:-

    Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Habitat:-

  1. Found in swampy areas, at edge of pond and tanks, beside streams, in ditches, in or around rice fields
  2. Grows in shallow water upto 0.3m, in seasonally dry and open habitats

Morphological character:-

  1. Annual, short to intermediate height grass
  2. Panicles usually compact, rarely open
  3. Spikelets large, 6 to 10.4mm long and 1.9 to 3.4mm wide, with 4 to 10cm long awn
  4. Anthers 1.5 to 3mm long

Specific traits:-

  1. Resistance to grassy stunt virus, Blast
